American

  • Au Cheval – Sister to the Chicago original serving elevated burgers and American dishes in a stylish setting
    • Location: Tribeca 
    • Atmosphere: Converted warehouse, trendy, well lit, retro 
    • Suggestions: The burger with bacon and farm egg, silky whipped potatoes 
    • Reservations: Suggest but not difficult to get. Reservations can be made up to 14 days in advance with each new day becoming available at 9am ET
    • A Good Place For: Dinner with friends, a casual meal 
    • Note: One of the best burgers in NYC
    • Sister Restaurants: 4 Charles Prime Rib, Monkey Bar

French

  • Frenchette – Contemporary bistro serving French standards and natural wines in a refined environment
    • Location: Tribeca 
    • Atmosphere: Brasserie, noisy, sleek, wood-trimmed
    • Suggestions: The menu is constantly changing, but everything here is good, so if something speaks to you, get it 
    • Reservations: Required 
    • A Good Place For: Small group dinner (2-4 people), a nice date 
    • Note: 2019 James Beard Foundation Winner of Best New Restaurant

  • The Odeon – Lively bistro with outdoor seating serving French American food, plus brunch and late-night bites
    • Location: Tribeca
    • Atmosphere: Not noteworthy – a standard restaurant feel 
    • Suggestions: French onion soup, parmesan fries
    • Reservations: Generally not required, though suggested on a Friday or Saturday 
    • A Good Place For: A last minute dinner
    • Note: The Odeon is good but nothing on the menu will blow your mind. In my opinion, it’s overpriced. There are better French spots in the city, but you won’t have a bad meal or a bad experience here 
    • Sister Restaurant: Café Cluny

Italian

  • Il Mulino – The epitome of an old–New York Italian hangout
    • Location: Soho, Tribeca, Midtown
    • Atmosphere: Fine dining, stuffy, exclusive 
    • Suggestions: Gnocchi al pesto 
    • Reservations: Suggested but not difficult to get 
    • A Good Place For: A celebratory work dinner, dinner when the parents are in town 

  • Loconda Verde – Tribeca  hotspot showcasing rustic Italian cuisine in a lively atmosphere
    • Location: Tribeca
    • Atmosphere: Stuffy, business orientated 
    • Suggestions: Crispy artichoke, orecchiette 
    • Reservations: Required; reservations are available 1 month in advance to the numbered day beginning at 10am. Note that this restaurant reserves tables exclusively for Global Dining Access members only
    • A Good Place For: A business dinner 

Mexican

  • Casa Carmen – Upscale Mexican spot and the new venture of a Mexican family led by renowned chef Carmen “Titita” Ramirez Degollado and her grandsons Sebastian and Santiago
    • Location: Flatiron, Tribeca 
    • Atmosphere: Elegant, upscale, cavernous
    • Suggestions: Guacamole, tacos 
    • Reservations: Suggested but not difficult to get 
    • A Good Place For: Group dinner, dinner with the parents 

Brunch

  • Bubby’s – Weekend brunch hot spot serving homestyle American eats with many locally sourced ingredients
    • Location: Tribeca 
    • Atmosphere: Farmhouse, quaint 
    • Suggestions: Pancakes, bacon
    • Reservations: Strongly suggested for weekend brunch
