Mediterranean

  • HaSalon – Locavore spot from Israeli celebrity chef with a reservations-only experience & a theatrical vibe
    • Location: Hells Kitchen
    • Atmosphere: Party, loud, theatrical
    • Suggestions: The beans (on the menu as “the most beautiful braid ever made, perfumed with lemon, olive oil and garlic)
    • Reservations: Required. HaSalon NYC offers two dining experiences options per evening. The first seating is 6:00pm – 7:30pm and is more relaxed. The second seating, 7:45pm or later, is louder and more upbeat, with energy building throughout the night until close (around midnight). Final seating is at 9:30pm
    • A Good Place For: A birthday dinner, a celebration, a large group dinner
    • Note: I found the food here to be incredibly disappointing and very overpriced. I would not go back to HaSalon

Japanese / Ramen

  • Totto Ramen
    • Location: Hells Kitchen, Midtown East
    • Suggestions: Spicy ramen

Thai

  • Pure Thai Cookhouse – Homemade noodles star at this Thai eatery, which also dishes out stir-fries & sticky rice
    • Location: Hells Kitchen
    • Atmosphere: Casual, unassuming
    • Suggestions: Wok Basil with Chicken
    • Reservations: Not required
    • A Good Place For: A quick meal, a last minute dinner
    • Note: The food here is SPICY. Be mindful of the spice level
